Fall Hike

I went a hike with my friends in the IMR group. We went for a hike into one of the wilderness areas about 120 north east of Boise. You can see the name of the area on the sign below.

The hike was just shy of 8 miles. The trail gave us some great views of the mountains in the area. The next few pictures were taken at about 8,400 ft. We started out at about 6,500 feet.

The original plan was to do a 10-12 mile round trip hike to some lakes in the area, but about two miles into the hike we started walking in snow. We then hiked about another two miles and at that point the snow was about 6 to 8 inches deep. We would have been better off with snowshoes, but we did not have them with us. We were on top of a ridge at that point and chose to have lunch up there then turn back before getting to any of the lakes. It is very cool that we could have been snowshoeing on the 15th of November.
Here is group shot from the hike. That is me with my friends Martin and Jerry.
Here is a video I shot at the top. It should give a good sense of how great the views were up there.

The IMR group does have plans to do a snowshoe trip on Thanksgiving weekend. I hope that there is still snow to do that.
