New Record

Julie and I set a new personal record for hiking distance yesterday. We did a 17 mile hike close to the Snake River. This was another IMR trip. I think our previous high mark was 11 miles back on July 4th weekend this year.

For the first 12 miles we hiked along the river inside the canyon. Below is picture of the view we had during that part of the hike. This part of the hike was mostly level.

Then we started to climb 1,000 feet out of the canyon to the top of Sinker Butte. This five mile hike was pretty steep but seemed even steeper after a 12 mile "warm up." Here is view on top of the butte.
Above is the view from the butte looking back into the canyon. As you can see, the river is not even visible.

It was a good day of hiking. The weather was a little cloudy as you can see from the pictures. Last night we came home had dinner (we each ate a whole Domino's pizza) and then crashed on the couch. Today Julie and I are a little sore but the hike was worth it.
