Walk in the Desert

The weather was cooler the past few days. The highs were in the 70s. For that reason, I went to hike in some areas that tend to get very hot in the summer The first area was Malad Gorge. The state park was kind of small. The park was still very neat, just not much to hike. The video at the end of the post is from this park as well. The gorge starts off very narrow and become pretty wide within a short distance. The picture below is from the same gorge.

The second park was the Bruneau Sand Dunes. These are the highest dunes in North America according to what I read. The highest dune in just under 500 feet tall. Here is the dune from a distance. Did I climb to the top?
You bet I did. Why? Because it was there. That and I saw two other people up there. I had to do it too. I had them take my picture. Do you like my new hat?

This is another shot from on top of the dune. I would have made a video on top but the wind was really blowing (all you would have heard was wind) and my battery was low. I think it is very neat that you can see farm land this close to these 500 foot dunes.
The last photo is my self portrait. It was a very good day of solo hiking. I guess that I hiked about 6-7 miles total. Yes, I was hiking while listening to my ipod.
This is a video of the gorge.

Julie and I are thinking about going camping next weekend.
