Hike with new friends

We did a hike today with the Idaho Mountain Recreation (IMR) group today. We hiked with a group of 11 people and Abby to Boise Peak. This peak is in the foothills about 8 miles from town. We hiked one way about 4 miles. Most of the hike was on forest roads. Below is picture of Julie at the top when we stopped for lunch. As you can see, the summit (about 6,500 ft) did not offer the great views you hope for at a summit. The hike was still very good and fun.

This is a good view point just off the summit. That is west Boise in the far background.
This is just a random shot taken during out walk down. Our group was enviro-friendly on the way down, we picked up about 5 plastic grocery sacks of trash. It is kind of sad that you can find that much trash during a 4 mile hike on nationally protected land (BLM) land.

I do have to report that my volunteer work at the Ironman in Boise was a lot of fun last week. I was so impressed by the athletes and the great crowd that was there at the finish. I hope to work it again next year. Maybe not the same job.

The count down has begun. Julie and I will be back home in Ohio in about a month and half. We are looking forward to visiting with lots of our family and friends.

Stix
