A Day of Mourning

Today is a day of mourning in our house for two reasons. Of course there is the Buckeye's loss to LSU last night. Mike and I went to a restaurant/sports bar called "The Ram" to watch the first half of the game. It was a bit strange watching it in a city where there are few connections to either team. There was only a smattering of applause after any big play. It seemed as though the majority of the people could care less who was winning. There was no booing or objects being thrown over the poor performance of OSU. I did spot a couple of people wearing OSU gear, but that was about it. For the first time I even wore scarlet and gray (but there are no pictures for proof to document this or to be used as evidence).

The second reason for mourning is that I received news from my dentist today that I have a cavity. I was completely not expecting it. This is my first ever in 33 years. I guess I just need to keep telling myself that I now must have a better, more observant dentist in Boise as compared to my old dentist in Columbus. I now know what my New Year's resolution will be... brush more, floss more, and rinse more.

I've attached some "happy" photos on this day of mourning. The first is a pre-cavity photo of my mom and I after finishing TOSRV last year (the bike ride from Columbus to Portsmouth and back). The other is a picture taken near a place called Lucky Peak in Boise. The bike path on the left side of the picture is part of the "Greenbelt", a path that runs along the Boise River and takes you into downtown. It even goes by the blue turf at Bosie State University. I think its full length is around 20 miles.

Julie and Stix ( I guess I'll call you that Michael:) - LOVE your blog...I need to go to bed, but I am glad that I wandered over here- you are both great writers and I love the pics-looks like you are having a blast! Steve and the boys took the OSU loss fairly well- no tears or anything! As the season is ending, one last Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
