Our 4th of July Weekend Part II: Where the ##%&&% is the car?

Julie said I had to do the post for the second half of our hike this past weekend.
After the summit, our group started the 5 mile hike back to the car. It should be said here that we did not do an out and back hike. Before we started the hike we dropped a car off at a different trail head. We were planning on shuttling people between the two cars.

The walk down started at about 3:15 and the hike was moving pretty well and the views were still great. The pace of the walk down did start to slow down in places because there were some sections that were steep, had lose soil or rocks, or all three. At about 6:30 the whole group got to the last section of trail. Here comes the fun part. We can't find the car and we lose the trail again. The only thing the group knows is that we have to cross a river and the car is somewhere inside of a 1/3 of a mile square area. We can't see it from anywhere because the brush is so over grown. We spent about and hour trying to find the car and a good place to cross the river. Here is picture of the river crossing.
We found the car and got back to camp. The second night was great. We had lots of food (Our group did community meals - we ate burritos that night), beer and laughs about the days hike.

On Sunday we came home, cleaned our camping gear, and relaxed.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Stix
