For the 4th of July we headed a couple of hours north to just past the town of McCall. We hiked in about 3.5 miles to Box Lake (elevation 7200'). It was a beautiful day, a little on the warm side. The entire day we only saw 2 other couples hiking. It was steep at the beginning, but we were rewarded with a beautiful blue lake at the end. Along the way we did encounter some snow. Abby was very happy to cool off and to eat it.
We wanted to enjoy one more weekend in the mountains before heading "back east". We look forward to spending a week with family in northern Wisconsin.
