After breakfast on the third day, the four of us drove from Moab to Canyonlands Nat'l Park. I think it is about 35-40 miles away from Moab. Having two nat'l parks within 50 miles makes Moab a nice place to visit. Along the way we passed a place along the road called Big Mesa. Below is picture of that stop.

In side Canyonlands, we did trail called Grand View. It is really neat. We hiked along this 1 mile long ledge and the hole way you can look out and see the canyons that the Colorado and Green rivers have cut over time. You can see for many miles. The view was Grand. Below is a picture looking down into the Colorado river canyon. I think I saw that we were about 2000 feet above that plateau and then the canyon drops again.

My Dad did really well on the hike considering he is fearful of heights. I was a little scared at times looking at those ledges and cliffs. I told him that at times like this the fear is very justified. God is just trying to keep you safe.
Here is Mom and I just gawking at the view. Wow.

It was starting to get a little warm on the way back from our 2 mile out and back hike. So we took a short rest under one of the few trees along the hike. It was not as hot as the past two days. It was only in the low 90s.

Later that day, we did a short hike to a place called Mesa Arch. We got some nice people to take our picture at the arch.

Our last stop of the day was at a place called Dead Horse Point State Park. This was one of the few places where you could look down from the upper plateau that we were on all the way to the Colorado River below. I really like this picture below. Notice that little strip of green down by the river.

We spent one more night in Moab after our day in Canyonlands. The next morning Julie and I drove 560 miles back to Boise. My parents drove on to other places on their vacation. Tonight they are staying around Zion Nat'l Park. They will be in Boise in about 2 1/2 weeks.
